Maybe the gain structure is different now? Not sure why he's saying the Mic sounds more muffled in 5 vs. 3.

This may be a question that only Dan can answer. I have a friend that claims his condenser Mic sounds different recorded with v5 vs. v3. I imagine he feels that 3 sounds better. Both the Mic and the audio interface are the same as well as the PC. Is the audio engine different between these 2 version...

With a TonePort, take your pick. Use either L or R. They both will pan wherever you put them and if you you pan all the way, then there will be no sound in the other channel.

You are probably tracking in stereo. Try using mono tracks. Set MC5's input to the right or the left input of the TonePort before recording/tracking. It's next to the arm button (down arrow). Another thing to consider is to always track in mono unless you have a cool stereo keyboard pad or something...

Yes. Most DAW's have Multi Out capability.

Try pulling off the high freaks on an EQ for your B/G vocals to make them sound different. Using a different Mic also helps in making them sound apart from the lead. Also, you will want them usually lower in db to the lead vocal.

I see Multi-Outs, amongst other things, in the next version of Mixcraft if not in an update for MC5.
