Re: Fun with reverb

Hmmm that's good to know about the Toneboosters dynamic EQ.... I like their stuff eg Barricade. I'll check that out! OK, well, I need to write up my adventures with Dynamic EQ with pictures when I get time, on another post, and you're right there's not so much info, so been winging-it a bit. Some pi...

Re: From 96-24 to 44-16

I read elsewhere that if I was going to end up at 44k (which was always the plan), I'd have been better off recording at 88.2/24, making the conversion easier and less prone to artefacts?
Still not sure what's happened in Mixcraft here.

Re: From 96-24 to 44-16

This could be a reverb tail or some other trailing sound that you can't hear. You could try blocking all frequencies above 20k with EQ or other vst and then render and see. I'm blocking those frequencies in building the master, but I also had tried what you said - blocking them just before conversi...

Re: Why all the Plugins?

I... think it's a good range that Mixcraft Pro offers. Sure, you might only need the one parametric, not need *both* the Acoustica and Classic sets, might not need 3 reverbs (but they're all quite quite different), but they kinda do cover all the basics I think! Why not organise yours using the &quo...

From 96-24 to 44-16

Who's knowledgeable here in Mastering? I realise SPAN isn't the best freq analyser (BlueCat does show the same tho'), but any ideas why rendering (using MixCraft "midown") from my 96/24 master to 44/16 with no VSTs present should show such a frequency bump after 20k? (given that I purposel...

Re: Song No. 2 Called This Ain't Techno

Shades of Doctor Who 1970's episodes!! I think it gets better after a shaky slightly repetitive start, I like the middle section - it has bite and some fat sounds, I think you've been really inventive here! I don't think there's too much noise. Keep up the good work! What can you share of how you us...

insert a favorite songwriting troubadour here...with your ear, creativity, interest in learning and your determination you could become very good. Just don't fly too high and burn out on us! Suzanne Vega!!! Don't worry about flying too high, I don't like the sun & am afraid of heights... ;-) th...

Re: Fun with reverb

And here's an interesting* thing! TDR Nova (like the vastly more expensive non-free "Fabfilter" I guess) has a spectrum analyzer in/out view, so look at this! - here's the input graph - here's all that flabby bottom-end that would have been added to the Reverb return, and dirtied up my who...

Re: Recording sequence

How some people can build the parts of a song, have a melody and structure THEN write lyrics, totally baffles me *I* do this lol! Honestly, I rarely see people develop songs of quality that way well, 99% of my songs are rubbish, 'tis true (you know this Mark!!!) More often than not, I would think t...

Fun with reverb

hi folks I've been tearing my hair out with a current song of mine, so I thought I'd share my adventures, if only to give you all a good laff. I've posted on similar before , when I was trying to avoid compression of reverb (I never really managed it, feeling that Output tracks were not really the b...

Re: Clue needed...

I'm working on a wav sound file (from a live performance) and a peak is indicated but it's really not showing an inordinate amount of power on the form mmm must be something on the FX of the audio track#3 you are showing? (we can't see audio track#1 in your image) sometimes I've had problems when a...

I like this a LOT.
The Cello is one of the better MC sounds I feel, and sounds magnificent here.
The sound quality is high, and I think you've done a great job!

Re: Mastering in Mixcraft.

I've tried many ways too. What I like about Mixcraft 7.7 that needs re-mentioning is it's "Mix down" to 32bit-float option, allowing me to take a (in theory) flawless rendering of my mix into a separate project for mastering. It's a cool option, and then one from which eg. you could render...
