You don't have to arm a track to drag an mp3 into it, arming is for recording. If you have armed your recording track with the microphone>left, then perhaps the other track is getting recorded because you have it playing back on speakers close enough to the microphone that is "hears" it? ...

Lets start with the first issue, if your track is recording everything, including sound you are hearing such as other tracks playing back, then you have armed the recording track with something like "stereo mix" or "what you hear". Make sure to click the small arrow next to the ...

I also disagree, the sound can be great if you do it right. Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT3cv6GPS-4 That was done with shred amp simulator, no physical amps accept the bass. When adding a guitar track and adding effect's I hear the effect and still hear the raw guitar. I tried looking this up but found no fix.
