But-
Red= mixer master fader slider.
Green= Master fader "scale"
Blue= Master meter.

I largely ignore the existance of all three FWIW. Might kinda give the meter the side eye on occasion.

I have read on another thread here on metering where a popular member says "I never use the master fader. It stays put at zero". So I ask myself, what good does the master fader do then in a real life scenario? What is the commonly accepted approach? That was likely me... (Except perhaps ...

Correct. The plug-ins gain correction does change the level.

Pretty sure you would find that it's not just the meter, the compressor plug-in isn't doing anything.
The VST3 version never worked in Mixcraft to my knowledge. I have used the vst version, which did work.

I have a Tascam US144, and can tell you the unit was discontinued almost ten years ago and the driver hasn't been updated in a long time- I think W7 (or so) may have been the last supported Windows OS. In addition to Trevors tip, since you mentioned you are using a laptop- Make sure it is in high performance mode. Most laptops default to power saving mode and performance suffers as a result.

Master bus, last in the chain.

Always remember to bypass for mixdown or bouncing tracks in any way, otherwise the plug-in will be applied to the rendered track, which is not what you seek.
