Re: Windows Update Last night NOW POPS
Definitely turn off any "spatial processing" or anything else new like that that is now in your Windows audio settings. Are you using a USB microphone? Does it have its own driver? Is it an ASIO driver? If your mic is a USB mic and has an ASIO driver, try using it in ASIO mode. If it does ...

Re: Mixcraft 9 Feature Request
It's an officially-entered-in-the-database feature request, I think I may have either entered it myself or at least put a me-too on it.

Re: Undo Split Tracks
Also, Mixcraft archives backup points every time you save your project, so if you can remember about what time and date you made the boo-boos with the split command and then saved, you can load up that project with the clips intact. Look in your project folder for a subfolder named "Backup.&quo...

Re: File format description mx6
A friend of mine played around with a hex editor and wrote me a little Python script dependencies checker for Mixcraft files pretty quickly, like under an hour's labor, a couple of years ago. I don't remember if he said they are storing the audio file resource names in plain text, but if it's not th...

I've been around here long enough to know that that is Gregspeak for "expect to be beta testing this in Mixcraft 9."Acoustica Greg wrote: That would be a nice feature.

Re: Thick meaty mids
Assuming that the mix is in good shape, that every instrument sounds as I want it to and is placed where I want it to be placed, I'd touch it up with one of the mastering EQ's at my disposal. I got a license for Eventide/Newfangled EQuivocate when it first came out, and I also have Soundspot Overton...

Re: Setting up a click track
Patience? Your posts were an hour and 5 minutes apart on a Sunday morning. Yes, you figured out one of my favorite click track methods, just set up a MIDI drum track. What I have done is set up a standard click track that I like, save it as a MIDI file, then import it into Mixcraft at the start of e...

Re: Behavior of "Delete Unused Recordings" please clarify
This file management stuff is why I have been lobbying for a "check dependencies" function for some time now. I would love to have a way to generate a list of exactly what files and where a given Mixcraft project is using, for the purpose of backing them up, deleting no-longer-needed takes...

Behavior of "Delete Unused Recordings" please clarify
The manual says that "Mixcraft deletes any recordings made that are not currently on any tracks during a project save or when the ( sic ) exiting the software." My understanding is that If I make any recordings, but delete those takes/clips during that session, and then Save, or Exit witho...

Re: Can Mixcraft record an hour long performance?
One of my Mixcraft computers has an SSD in it as its C: drive and Mixcraft records to it just fine. The OS takes care of it so Mixcraft doesn't even know what kind of disk it's writing to. I've done a couple of live video shoots of bands, single camera. You don't say what kind or how many camera(s) ...

Re: Blue Sky...
I don't understand why printing one effect (compression) on a few tracks (vocals) is going to have such a great effect of reducing the load on my cpu and memory, thereby resulting in audible improvements. Is singing through a dynamic mic into guitar stompbox going to result in a better vocal sound v...

Re: High Pass Slopes
Ever the Meldaproduction fanboy here, (the free) MEqualizer does 36, 48 and 60. After you right-click on the filter node to pull up its characteristics panel, you'll see a line of buttons for "slope." Unless it has to be a dynamic EQ? I've learned that whenever I need something from a plug...

Re: Free VST plugin recommendation list
Here are a couple more. One is a new compressor, the ADHD Leveling Tool, that seems to be a tribute to the LA-3A from the styling of it: http://audiotools.se/downloads/leveling-tool/ It's my current favorite bus compressor after I put it on my drum submix and was suitably impressed with the results....
