Re: Micro fades?

Cool!

I also just now noticed that it's available from the right click context menu, under Properties.

The little triangle indicators to show that the clip has been micro-faded are fab. Really nice touch.

(now if we could get a keystroke for it....)

Re: Free VSTi virtual instrument recommendation list

Why only install Kontakt Player? There's a bunch of other useful stuff that they give you for free, Like Reaktor and a bunch of ensembles for that, Guitar Rig, with a variety of usable modules, a couple of standalone effects, etc.

Micro fades?

I'd like to test the new clip micro fade feature (I should, I entered the Bugzilla feature request). How is this accessed? I'm psyched going in and closing bugs and feature requests! My biggest disappointment so far is that there's still no routing of MIDI output from plug-ins. I would have liked to...

Re: Whats a log-in?

Bugzilla requires creating a separate login/account from the main Acoustica website.

I found it handy to just use the same email address for both accounts.

Mixer impressions

New look is cool, goodbye woodgrain.

Built-in FX are nice to see, haven't tried them in battle yet. No phase button? Tooltips will be welcomed.

Floaty Preferences Panel is neato. Icon for floatiness is odd. Collapsible Preferences panel to squeeze in a couple more strips would also be nice.

Re: Mixcraft 9.0 build 427 is the current build

I have never tried using drums in Mixcraft most of my music does not use drums. But I thought it would be good to test some stuff with drums and was wondering is there such a things as a Drum Map in Mixcraft? You're just not used to accessing it right from the Piano Roll. ;-) A tooltip would be nic...

First impression excitements

When I ran my cursor past the left end of the transport controls and realized that....

The Transport Bar is now floatable and dockable!! Both at the top and the bottom of the Track View.

Also like the new flatter look in general, looking forward to taking a look at the mixer.

Re: What are your top 3 feature requests for Mixcraft 9?

From the first day I used Mixcraft, the movable transport bar is #1. Second, collapsible lanes ! Oh man, do my Mixcraft projects ever suffer from loss of screen real estate and having to scroll endlessly once I get a few takes going. There's no need to have every single take on the screen at one tim...

Re: Free VSTi virtual instrument recommendation list

Here's where I will remind people watching this thread to keep checking over at Pluginboutique. Do it at least weekly. Recently they've run a bunch of their fantastic loss-leader deals where you buy any product and get a license for some other tasty big-name product for free. The tasty products rece...

Re: Headphones for mixing

I have a pair of Samson SR850's and like them for silent mixing and referencing.

I've been looking for a budget "sleeper" pair of closed-back cans to replace my Sennheiser HD-280's, which I never really clicked with.

Re: SOLVED! Yet another mix down to mp3 question

Great news, Mike. It's a fine thing that memory is cheap enough and download speeds fast enough that we don't need to worry so much about filesize on people's portable devices, phones and so forth.

I have never sent out an MP3 or AAC at lower than 320, and usually use FLAC instead if I can.

Re: Free VSTi virtual instrument recommendation list

Meldaproduction's MDrummerSmall may still be found with a bit of poking around and it's got some good-sounding kits in it.

My perennial favorite freebie Sennheiser DrumMic'a is still available to those who can make it through the registration process.

Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

You could mix down to FLAC, which has the same quality as WAV but usually comes out about half the size of WAV, or you could check the settings you are using when you mix down to MP3. Higher bitrate MP3 sounds quite different from lower bitrate. Set your MP3 settings for Highest Quality at mixdown t...

Re: 64 vs 32 bit (yeah, again - sorry)

If you're spending the money on a new computer with the goal of having a better recording rig, it's $29 to upgrade your copy of Mixcraft 5 to Mixcraft 8, and there are so many more new features. 32-bit, 64-bit, with the horsepower of the system you have now, you can run anything you want. My suggest...

Re: Vocal Preset

What I hear:

Good mic.

EQ, compression, reverb with medium decay.

A bit of pitch correction.
