If you want to do this a lot with loops you need good loop collections (plural). So be prepared to spend the cash. With midi you can do anything that you want, but it's even more tedious than manipulating loops. And you need a good guitar vsti unless you don't mind a poor sounding guitar. I recommen...

Whoracle, There are several ways to tweak drum sounds in midi. It takes practice and patience. Like Eric and PDS say, you can tweak the effects and eq and improve the overall sound of the kit. You can choose multiple VST folders in Mixcraft 4 by choosing File>Preferences>Effects and clicking on the Edit VST effects folders button. When you're making a cd of multiple songs you should have each song completed individually and mixed down to wav. Open a new project and start adding those completed, mixed files. You don't have to worry about tempo. If Mixcraft asks if you want to change the tempo click no, but this shouldn't happe...
