Ive tried the various ways via the automation lane to record track mute/unmute button presses.

I can record fader moves in the mixer but not the click/unclick of the mute button. Ive got to be doing something wrong here as I'd imagine this is possible.

Looks like my last update/twist to this problem did not make it to the forum. So, I went back to a backup file to load that and sure enough immediately track 1 loaded, no apparent searching for files. To answer one of your earlier questions that I over looked: "did Mixcraft try to search for the missing audio files".

No it didn't, the corrupted project opens extremely quickly.

So back to some earlier observations : 1) the MB size of the properties of the corrupted project seem to indicate that all is till there 2) picking up an existing uncorruptrd project and resaving it seems to reveal the problem. All the earlier backups are fine - although of course historically not that usable as they are old versions of the song.
