And don´t forget to upgrade your plug-ins too, if you can.
Although 32bit plug-ins do work on a 64bit host, they introduce unnecessary overhead.

More creative uses of loudness meters
AHornsby: BTW I did not notice any of that stuff. Just recently I was in contact with Bob Katz over a matter. He told me to look for a meter that shows crest factor, which is, to my knowledge, a peak over RMS value. The dpMeter II is one of the few meters that has this. Bob thought that this paramet...

Re: Unable to open playback device
WaveRT was a half hearted attempt from Microsoft to cater for real time audio applications. I made an inquiry to Focusrite for example, and they have no plans in the foreseeable future to do anything WaveRT.
If you search for WaveRT you eventually find, that this is already on the descent.

Re: How to record EZDrummers Individual Drum instruments?
Possibly this helps. You create a new virtual instrument track and assign EZD2 to it. In the very menu, to the right it says "config". If you open that you can select which channels are used from the VI (default:1). You also have to go into EZD´s mixer and to the bottom of the sliders ther...

Re: Sound Radix Surfer EQ2 Boogie!
This is gone. It was an October feature. Seems they have a thing every month. Good to know that anyway. Keep your eyes open every month, there might be a grain of corn there one day :D This month (Nov) they have some amp simulation there. Listen to the guy in the official video, he churns out lifele...

Write-up for fixing level problems with compressors early in the mixing process
Every time I sit down for a mix after raw tracking, when it comes to setting raw levels and cranking a compressor, I am lost. It appears I am notorious for forgetting everything I have read or seen, so I have started to make written notes. Grey areas from one publication I tried to fill with informa...

Re: What Focusrite says about PC optimization
One thing that has not been mentioned here... Do not install any performance optimizing tool , that may be supplied with your motherboard. 1) Those destablize your PC´s thermal stability by fiddling with CPU voltage and frequency, claiming homeopathic speed gains. 2) They have a grip deep into BIOS ...

Re: What Focusrite says about PC optimization
Thanks for those links. Be careful about disabling too many services Black Viper talks about. I once tried this and the PC was behaving quirky. Bear in mind that with today´s powerful CPUs, that are idle for the most time, a few minute services are no problem whatsoever. Who has IDE hard disks these...

Re: Recording automation data from a plugin
Imagine what you can do with this feature. You can for instance produce a loudness history graph throughout your song or even disc if you are mastering, just as those expensive plugins do. You could also monitor a compressor´s behaviour.

Recording automation data from a plugin
This is probably a question for the staff: is it possible to record automation data? To be precise, I downloaded dpMeter2 by TBProAudio. It says in the manual, "Metering results could be recorded by DAW as automation data". This would be a crafty feature that rivals all those multi$$$ plug...

Re: Vintage compressors reverse engineered with ReaComp
But I think your (old) posts here caught the good parts of it quite well Helmut. Very much worth the study. That is satisfying. And then you asked the forbidden question: (...) what does it matter to the end user (...)? (Sigh). This reminds me of my father´s 70th birthday. We did a whole rigmarole ...
