Re: Import From CD

There are dozens of free tools that do a good job of ripping CDs. I don't see much advantage to having this available inside your DAW. I use Foobar 2000: http://www.foobar2000.org/

Re: Mixer/Mixing Console

... Modernize the EQ. Some dont use it, I do and would appreciate improved functionality. I've similarly previously suggested either a fourth knob, or selectable mid freq at minimum would be nice. I also would love either a little selectable button for a HP filter freq, or a rt. click function on a...

In the log file in the first post above, the word "duplicate" is the important clue.

Re: Mixcraft Home Studio 6 recording interface

Yes. According to the specs, this mixer includes a "bi-directional 18 x 18 USB interface". You may or may not be able to record 18 tracks simultaneously, but that would be a limitation of the USB 2.0 ports and driver on your computer, not a limitation of the mixer. Regardless, it will work...

Re: Horrible Noise Coming From Microphone or Software?

One last comment/question. What is the peak level of the guitar part BEFORE normalization? That will tell us how much gain the normalization process adds to the signal. My guess is that you should be sending a hotter signal into Mixcraft. It doesn't hurt to use more legible level meters than the one...

Re: Horrible Noise Coming From Microphone or Software?

+The guitar track doesn't have that noise before normalization. I think it does, but it's at such a low level that before normalization you can't hear it. +The sound you heard in the audio clip was with the phantom power on, but the sensitivity turned all the way down AFTER being normalized. If by ...

Re: Horrible Noise Coming From Microphone or Software?

I suspect perhaps a misunderstanding or misconception of what normalization is or what it does might be the core issue here? This might be useful: http://www.hometracked.com/2008/04/20/1 Also, if you ever have to normalize a track with residual background noise, use a gate plugin first. Mixcraft Pr...

Re: Terrible latency with playback

When you are monitoring while recording through plugins that introduce delay, there's no way to get rid of latency completely. But you can usually reduce it to a tolerable amount. Before buying expensive new hardware, experiment with the your Sapphire's buffer setting. In Mixcraft go to File -> Pref...

Re: Horrible Noise Coming From Microphone or Software?

I'll record a track with my guitar, normalize it when I'm done, and I still get that noise before the guitar comes in. (1) What is the peak level of the guitar part BEFORE normalization? (That will tell us how much gain the normalization process is adding to the signal.) (2) Why do you feel it is n...

Re: Horrible Noise Coming From Microphone or Software?

"I get this awful sound after I normalize." What are you normalizing? If you try to normalize periods of silence (when there's no guitar or other sound), the normalization algorithm will amplify whatever background noise there is in the circuit. Turning down the input level on your Line6 a...
