Midi is a whole new world which can take quite a while to get your head round .. I still have trouble.

Unless your kit supports USB Audio, then unfortunately, you can't . You could try the headphone / line out and record them as an audio track.

I'm not sure how you're organizing your plug-ins .. Updating MC shouldn't affect any folders or their contents so maybe just a rescan is required

How to cheat .. but it works.

Find the drum rolls you want in pre-existing midi files. Open them in MC, isolate them, then save them for tweaking

If you go to the Preferences section and select Control Surfaces, in the drop down tab there's a list of mapped Controllers which should work very well
