Re: Free VSTs/VSTis: what have you used...

Early on I used a lot of free stuff, mostly to my chagrin. In instruments more likely than not 'free' means sloppy coding. Effects are a different story. 5orcery is still my goto compressor for orchestral stuff. Anything by Tokyo Dawn is of a very high quality IMO. Now if you have the full version o...

Re: Clip Grid Beats Don't Match Piano Roll

Acoustica knows about that bug. It's been there to my knowledge ever since v5. You can file a bug report as stated, but also maybe add your voice on the subject to the suggestion thread. Perhaps it will be added to the long-awaited MIDI editor overhaul. Biggest issue for me there is the piano roll d...

Re: No Kontakt Cello

Actually the solo cello that comes with Mixcraft is not all that bad, the biggest weakness being no control over vibrato. However articulations can be mimiced with CC#7 and/or CC#11 automations. Any other decent cello I have runs in Kontakt.

Re: G-Sssssonique plug ins

The only one I use is FAT+ and most of the stock settings are hissy, but in that plugin you can either set or automate the amount of hiss.

Re: NOISE (with nothing playing and no tracks armed)

Hi, I use FAT+ on most projects. I only use one instance in the master. If you are using multiple instances that could be part of the problem. What you seem to be describing is the 'analog hiss' setting. I imagine that is cumulative as you add instances. That can be automated so it's not perceptible...

Re: EWQL Play 6

I suggest before doing any upgrades to Play you check the soundsonline forums and see who is having problems and with what. Some of the issues are Mac only, some PC only. Personally, I have no desire to use Composers Cloud or Hollywood Choirs, so am happy to stay on Play 4.xx

Try 5orcery and see how that works for you.

Re: Tweaking VST's while simultaneously monitoring them

Best way is to get a MIDI controller with lots of knobs and sliders and then assign parameters you want to adjust in your synth to knobs via MIDI Learn in Mixcraft.

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

Oh man.... Please!!!! Mixcraft please!! I'd really, really, really like for there to be tempo automation (envelopes) made available. If it already is, then please let me know where it is. I hate having to work it all out when it can be done using envelopes in other programs. Even Guitar Pro 6 has i...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

This may have been suggested before but I'd like to put my vote in for Mixcraft to give more control over drawing automation. Right now you can't curve automation lines without making a bunch of little dots while on other DAWS you can just create 2 points and curve the line in-between. That would b...

Re: Strings VST - reasonably priced

One developer that hasn't been mentioned is Kirk Hunter. Most of my strings of late have been a combination of Concert Srings 2&3. They very often go on sale for less than 1/2 price. Concert strings 2 or Legacy would fit your needs IMO and would also provide something you could grow into. These ...

kenrob2037. if you are not already aware of it, let me recommend VI-Control as a source of tips and inspiration on orchestral music: https://vi-control.net/community/ specifically the "Mixing, Post-Production and Effects" sub-forum. +1 BUT beware of the 'Sample Talk' forum. It is a good p...
