Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Thanks for the explanation AJ113. Good luck in the contest. Have you had a chance to listen to some of the other mixes out there? Some have realy gone off the deep end!

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Measure it by using the TT Dynamic Range Meter, a plugin VST which is free. The dynamic range of a recording is regulated by compression and/or limiting. The "louder" the recording becomes, the lower the dynamic range. Suggest you read up on the "loudness wars". Listening levels...

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Hey, JensenBlayloc, have you posted your mix to the contest site yet? Now that you are totally confused and firewalled , are you OK with what's going on?

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
How is it I know how large the dynamic range is exactly? I know WHAT it is, but not how to measure it or change it. Not wanting to become embroiled in argument (I'm very much on a learning curve) I just wanted to share this handy piece of free kit. http://productionadvice.co.uk/how-to-avoid-over-co...

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
OK. Mines out there. I had a tough time deciding on the sound I wanted. Making a three piece band sound big and keeping the vocal on top was a challenge. I was also not sure what to do with the 2 bass tracks, DI and AMP. I assumed it provided a different sound depending on which way you wanted the ...

Re: Mixcraft 7 suggestions?
Yes Greg. Thanks, I forgot to mention this in my post. You can set up a midi controller to do what I said. It still would be beneficial to be able to automate from the mixer interface IMHO.

Re: Mixcraft 7 suggestions?
How about automation recording for volume and panning? Instead of points and manually adjusting tracks, allow the mixer console to be used to automate voume and panning. Then you can go to the track and "super teak' as needed. Could be expanded to effects automation also. well, Mixcraft alread...

Wow! I thought this forum was for suggestions on Mixcraft 7, not debates on the pros and cons of what works or doesn't or what should be or not be.

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Miked sound will be a little out of sync with the DI sound. You can see this in the bass stems if you expand and line up the bass notes. And since the snare and the kick were miked separately, they are also slightly out of alignement with the overheads. I had to do this visually as I didn't "he...

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Trevlyn, will do, I'll work on the kick, thanks again. JensenBlayloc, it is definately a challenge! If you follow Trevlyns advice and add some of your own "likeness" to the mix, I think you'll do fine. Like you mentioned, there are a lot of mixes out there where folks tried to get "cu...

Re: PureMIx, Sweetwater, Dangerous Music Announce Mixing Con
Thanks partner, I truly apreciate the feedback. I debated the kick drum issue because it does drive the song. Listening to my mix through various mediums (small speakers, computer speakers, home stereo system, headphones, etc.) the kick had a tendency to get too overpowering on some systems. Maybe l...

Re: Muffled and muddy sounding songs after MP3/WAV mixdown
It is possible to lose data when converting from one lossless format to another, if you reduce the fidelity of the data. For example, if you convert an unsigned 16-bit PCM data stream at 48000 Hz into an 8-bit PCM data stream at 44100 Hz, you're losing fidelity in two ways: the samples are being mer...
