Re: unwanted low-level reverb still present

I haven't read your previous posts so forgive me if this has already been mentioned... What is your audio interface/soundcard? Specifically, make sure you disable any effects that might be on by default in the sound card's software. One example is Creative's EAX settings for the SoundBlaster, which ...

Re: Mixcraft 6 - New install, problems loading instruments

I think it's likely the update error is due to the fact your Mixcraft files are divided between your C: and F: drives, and this is confusing the update. I would suggest you remove all instances of Mixcraft: Back up your projects, uninstall Mixcraft, delete all Acoustica folders, then run a registry ...

Re: Mixcraft 6 - New install, problems loading instruments

Best practice is to install all software on the system drive (wherever Windows resides), then place larger related files (like audio, sample libs) on a different drive. Otherwise, you might see the kind of problems you're experiencing. Anyway, let's verify this first: Under prefs/options (I'm not su...

Re: Mixcraft 6 - New install, problems loading instruments

If you've installed Mixcraft on your F: drive, then that's likely your problem. (From the screenshot, I can't tell if you installed the whole program there, or just the VSTs). You say you're trying to load MC5 projects into MC6, and you also mention a new hard drive. Did you change your system confi...

Re: Can't Hear Plug-Ins in Real Time.

Hi, I'd recommend two more optimizing "tweaks": - In the BIOS, disable any power management features (C1E, Speedstep, etc) - In Windows-Control panel - Power Options - Change to "High Performance" If still having issues, it could be driver-related. Try the free ASIO4ALL driver to...

Re: Mixcraft 6 upgrade procedure?

I found this recent post from Greg regarding upgrade prices: http://forums.acoustica.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10011 So, you are right -- that it is $20 from MC Standard 5 to 6 (and $50 from v5 Standard to v6 Studio Pro). What I don't see is the price from MC Studio Pro 5 to MC Studio Pro 6......

Re: Mixcraft 6 upgrade procedure?

As far as changing computers, you shouldn't worry as there's nothing stopping you from moving Mixcraft from one PC to another, even after the upgrade is released. Now, unless I'm mistaken, only the standard Mixcraft is eligible for the free upgrade (meaning if you buy v5 now, you get v6 when it is r...

Re: PreSonus 1818VSL clicks and pops

Teljax has given excellent advice.

This is why I asked what optimization steps were taken. The ones he described are usually necessary for DAWs on Vista/Win7.

Another one I'd add is to disable C1E/Speedstep in the BIOS.

Re: Gregg Allmans keyboard sound

A sample of the sound you're looking for would be helpful. I suggest going to YouTube, and finding an appropriate example of "that sound", then posting the link here. Then maybe someone can point you in the right direction for a similar-sounding VST.

Re: Installing Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3 as VST in Mixrcaft

There is no 32-bit version of Garritan's products. Only 64 and 86. Meanwhile, I have tried JBridge, but even if I copy the resulting JBridger files to the 3rd Party folder, Mixcraft doesn't read them and there is, in fact, a very briefly displayed fail message when Mixcraft scans the plugins. You a...

Re: Installing Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3 as VST in Mixrcaft

If you are the registered owner of the VST, you should have also been offered the 32 bit version of the plug (yes, it exists). If you bought the DVD media, look on there. If you got it via download, it may or may not be available in your account. Some devs give you only a short period of time to dow...

Re: Mixing Levels for 3rd Party Mastering

Hi Craig, This is just my personal opinion/observations, but I'd say -6db is the maximum loudness you want your mix to be before mastering. Remember, it's not your job to make it loud. Here is where a lot of folks go wrong - the goal is not to record as hot as possible (that old analog tape rule sim...
