That time when you realise you might actually have to spend real *money* on a Plugin?
Being a "Yorkshire lass" (I'm from the UK and those from the UK will get this), I have stuck like glue to freeware plugins ;-) What's your all time number 1?? Between those that magazines (Computer Music etc) give away their own versions of, or really good free ones from Bluecat, KVR, TDR,...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!
A Toneboosters update? If deals can be made that incorporate more of their plugins (they are good value) eg Barricade and Reelbus and an update to their 64bit versions.
Also, tiny icon representations of each added FX on the channel strip?
Marvellous!

Re: Favourite Limiter suggestions
I hear you, and many forums agree. But expensive though, my (cheapskate lol) aim of this post was to find the freeware ones ha haaj113 wrote:I haven't tried them all but Elephant is easily the best I have used, I haven't used anything else for the last three years.

Re: Any users of Audient id22?
Thanks! Just bought an id14 from Amazon (arrives tomorrow)...and it seems to fix some of the problems of the older 22 eg bigger meters.Rolling Estonian wrote:I have an id14 and absolutely love it! The preamps are killer and the ability to expand via adat is a big bonus. Very happy with my decision.

Good tip! Compression ain't just downwards if makeup gain engaged.aj113 wrote:Compress before the limiter in order to take some of the workload off the limiter, and/or try multiple instances of the limiter for the same purpose.

Favourite Limiter suggestions
I make no secret that I love Limiters, variously I try to avoid them, but am always brought back by the smoothing effect they can have when used *right* My current favs (all FREEWARE in the right places, magazine versions etc) are: Limiter no.6 a very very flexible multiband limiter, with lookahead ...

Re: A good gain staging workflow in Mixcraft?
If I have understood you correctly, you are adjusting each track's output to -0.5db. If you have multiple tracks all outputting at 0.5db then overloading the master bus summariser is inevitable. No, I am not adjusting each track's output to -0.5dB. Nothing is hitting the master at that level in any...

Re: A good gain staging workflow in Mixcraft?
... (a) mix to new clip Ctrl+W then Normalize Ctrl+K) Don't normalize. You will run out of headroom and you also run the risk of overloading some plugins. I only seem to do this on some clips, to get a good height waveform to automate levels against, I just think comping many narrow/hard to see tra...

Re: A good gain staging workflow in Mixcraft?
Amazing story!!! You've just humbled me, talking about all these bells and whistles and techniques doesn't mean anything, and she has raw talent, thank you for sharing!!! I....hope that music production (and I try a little of that) can maximise such talent, with the minimum of polish required - afte...

A good gain staging workflow in Mixcraft?
Like others I'm sure, I find gain staging hard. The whole digital thing.....and we all have so so much to learn, with this great product too. Scroll to the end for the questions :-) So, this is what I tend to do, but would appreciate advice! I see the ProTools etc videos, and see different things. N...

Re: Questions on how to operate synths like Acoustica Nightlife
Just one word - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Well, 5 words. Hmmm. Oh, and Vince Clarke. But yes. Synths used rhythmically, or blended in to be be almost unheard ie supportive, and in an orchestral sense are sublime. The Mixcraft "Stereo Cello" built-in, humble as it is, does this ver...

What do I actually HAVE to have as far as a PC Tim, your story sounds ace! Well jel (as they say)! But seriously, the old "want" vs "need" thing lol... I recently bought a new PC. My old one was frighteningly expensive, but, you know...noisy! Spinning hard drives, 5 fans blah bl...
