Re: a reversed delay in reverse

About a month ago I did the exact same idea to a recording of a friend playing guitar. I reversed the recording then added reverb then reversed it again. It made for an interesting and slightly eerie effect.

Re: A question about effects

I will experiment. :)

MC is a truly great bit of software indeed. I began as a complete novice and it did what I wanted it to do. As I learn more about it I am improving my results. You guys got this software absolutely bang on.

Re: A question about effects

Thanks once again for your help Greg. The "slice and dice" approach is the one for me I'm thinking. When I was in the band I got myself a volume switch on which I managed to break a solder joint. When I opened it to repair it I saw that it was a dual gang potentiometer and that only one ga...

Re: Bass guitar emulation

Well I did some experimenting with all the great advice that you all have very kindly given me and have come up with a fake bass guitar sound that I like. https://soundcloud.com/rik-561462059/su ... nt/s-faaEy It's nothing more than a single riff played over and over again at the moment but I have b...

A question about effects

What I am about to do is record a guitar track and I want to use different effects on different parts of the recording. I want some parts of it with no distortion and quite a long digital delay on it and other parts with distortion and no delay. Is there some way to set effects automation similar to...

Re: OT I'm thinking of a clean install of windows 10

I am a computer engineer and I install different windows versions day in, day out. My advice (aside from the obvious data backing up) is to have your network drivers stored on a usb stick or external hard drive before you begin. Once your O/S is up and running and connecting to the net, install your...

Re: Bass guitar emulation

Thank-you all for some very thought provoking posts in this thread. I'd like to comment on a few things if I may. Honestly, my best recommendation at this time is to pick up a reasonable bass guitar, and a DI box for good measure. Just my .02 Mark, I would love to do that as it would be the best way...

Bass guitar emulation

Hi all, thanx to some really decent help from lots of good people on here I now have a decent handle on drums. Bass guitar is my next challenge. What I'm in need of is rock/heavy rock/heavy metal bass guitar. I don't have a bass guitar so was wondering if anyone has a good method for making a standa...

Re: The bear music video

Well said fredfish! I wanted to say a lot more in my previous post but wasn't sure how to say it. The Bear put me in mind of one of my favourite tracks, Watch the Children Pray by Metal Church. As with fredfish, this is meant as a compliment, not a criticism. This song really makes me wish I could s...

Re: running anti virus software

I always disable Norton when working with music and just switch the Internet box off. My advice is get rid of Norton. I am a professional computer engineer and deal almost exclusively with home users. I would not recommend Norton to anyone as it seems to be very over bloated, resource hungry and ve...

Re: Getting the tempo correct

I will give that a go, thanx. Sorry I haven't posted before now but I have been very busy. I have tried playing to MC's metronome and to guitar rigs one with limited success. I also tried a 3rd party metronome (I forget it's name) while recording with audacity with similar poor results. I had an ide...

Getting the tempo correct

Hi all, forgive me if this question has been asked before. What I am doing is recording guitar tracks then attempting (without much success) to add a drum beat that matches my recordings tempo. I am playing the guitar myself to a metronome but no matter how I set things I can never get a drum beat t...

Re: My first try

Thanks for the info on the drum samples. There are a few beats that have got me thinking.
Only problem is MixCraft tells me that they are in an unsupported format (I did unzip them before trying).

Re: My first try

Thanks for the replies guys, it's not really my kind of music either, I am a metal head. The vocals were done by a very good friend of mine. I started with just the drum beat then got him to rap to it. The only bits that are me are the "sub" then the laugh at the end as I am completely una...
