Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks for that Mark. I only brought this up because it was so obvious to me I thought others might be hearing it too. Guess I'm more sensitive to certain freqs (even with hearing loss) than most. Could be the guys making the samples don't even hear it. The piece I 1st herd it on was a piano/strings...

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks squeakie, so I'm not going nuts after all??!
I'm sure the samples in MC7 are the same ones in MC8 as things like that aren't normally changed.
Still curious to see Mark's playlist revealed, tho.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks for everyone's help. My interface and hardware are fine as I 1st heard it on a smartphone using different headphones. The stray harmonic overtone is around 3191 Hz, whereas D4 is around 294 Hz. Here's a D4 sample from my project after hiking the EQ all the way up to make the sound more notice...

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Here is a few various string section samples of D4 whole notes, tell me if any have the artifact you hear in your project? D4 render Mp3.mp3 Out of the 6, I can hear it on 2, 3, 4, & 6. It's very noticeable to my ears with headphones and speakers, mostly with the right ear as the left one is st...

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks Mark, I'll check it out. No other D4's or any note from any other instrument affect me like this. Is why I suspect the sample set in Q. Even if the sample set itself is not bad, something about it is affecting my ears. OAN, I hear exactly what you mean about dentist's sonic tooth cleaner. He'...

Could be, if no one else can hear it. It's only on the one note, tho.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Yes. The artifact seems to be from the way the sample was recorded.
Curious to know if D4 is from another recorded note spread over a range or the actual note recorded.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks Greg, I normally don't mind the default FX set but good to know. I'm just glad I was able to weed out the awful noise on D4. I suppose most users don't notice it but I have one project that's only piano and strings with D4 repeating throughout... and with headphones it was just very annoying,...

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Not really sure what to see on it, so , no.
I put the Acoustica 31 band EQ on it and found the offending freq @3.2K.
I can fix it with a quad curve style EQ set to near exact freq and bring back some of the lost freq with the 31 band. Might even make it sound better.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Hearing it... like a single sine wave at high pitch. I can uoload a sample if you'd like, but depending on your hearing you may not notice it as I do. Tinitis has taken over my left ear with the right one following.

String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
I notice a hi frequency artifact coming from the Hall Strings & Cavernous Strings D4 note when sustained.
At least I can use Melodyne to correct it after converting output to audio.

Re: Font size
+1
Dare I say... It is possible from within one of the ini files, BUT, like the Windows approach, I think it affects other window text as well which makes it less than desirable. It should be a separate - per window - adjustment.

Re: Modernize the user interface
Normally DAWs have a menu in Preferences for changing GUI colors.
FWIW - I have a 4K monitor and, aside from being very, very small when set all the way up, MC8 displays just fine. No blurry here.

Re: Modernize the user interface
Anyone not happy with the current GUI is totally free to change it how they like as most of the files are accessible - even the layout and text files. Most vendors aren't so gracious. Eventually I may post my new theme but it's still a WIP.
