Re: Starting a new project from an old one
Hi, So, you want to do it the other way, which is to choose "Copy Project Files to..." from the File menu. That copies all the files you need for the project into a new project folder. The disadvantage is that it takes up more hard drive space, but the advantage is that you clearly know w...

Re: Starting a new project from an old one
As I suggested - Just open the first project, ABC and then 'save as' ABC 2023. So in the Mixcraft project folder, you'll have one folder 'ABC' and another, ABC 2023. Both can be edited separately and independently of each other. I just tried it; when I do a Save As, it creates a new project file, b...

Re: Starting a new project from an old one
Hi, It depends on how you want to do it. You could have two projects sharing the same audio files in the same folder, and it would work because Mixcraft is a non-destructive editor. The original audio files don't change, Mixcraft just stores information about the edits you've made. But later, if yo...

Re: Starting a new project from an old one
Hi Glenn Open your first project ABC and just 'save as' ABC 2023. No need to copy the project first. How does that keep the projects separate? If if I improve a vocal take and delete the old audio file, does that affect the original project? And aren't all the files from the old project and the new...

Starting a new project from an old one
Greetings, Sometimes I decide that I want to take an existing project and take it in a new direction. So, for example, I have a project called "ABC" in a folder. I make a copy of the folder, and rename it "ABC-2023". I open Mixcraft and open the project file in the new folder and...

Re: Mastering Software
I don't do what anybody would consider 'real' mastering - but for the thickening, en-loudening thing I really like what the Black Box HG-2 does. Seems to produce results very different from compression to me, and I like the end result, at least for my quick mixes. So far I am really happy with Blac...

Re: Mastering Software
Yes Glenn, sorry, its Elements, not "essentials" If you are patient, they offer better deals. I think I got the Elements bundle (four titles) for $129 or maybe even less. It's been a while. And I see the individual titles pop up at better prices than your reference. About $30 used to be a...

Re: Mastering Software
Glenn, I would suggest that the current version of iZotopes Ozone Essentials offers some pretty useful tools and functionality, and you can catch it on sale for about $30. I would opine that it is a huge leap better than the old version long ago bundled in Mixcraft. Mark, good to hear from you, and...

Re: Mastering Software
Thanks to everybody who posted, and I hope others will find the post and add their thoughts to it. I am tempted to buy Ozone 10 (sale on now), but when I look at video tutorials, it looks like a lot of work to learn. Right now my mind is on the current project, so I will probably wait. I am a one-ma...

Mastering Software
What software is the Mixcraft community using for Mastering? I am still using the Izotope Mastering Essentials (32 bit, probably ancient) that came with earlier versions of Mixcraft, and I am wondering what I am missing.
Thanks for any help and suggestions! Happy Memorial Day weekend.

Adjusting Volume on an Audio Track
Every time I go to adjust the volume on an audio track, I say to myself that there must be a better way. Simply pulling down the volume for a piece of the track requires putting in two points on the volume line, and then moving the volume down with the mouse. It often seems nearly impossible to get ...

Mixcraft Hangs When Starting Up
About every other time I start Mixcraft, it hangs on the "Initializing Melodyne" step. I wait 20-30 seconds and then End the Task. Then I start it up again, and it seems to start normally. There is a delay at "Initializing Melodyne", but it is only a few seconds, and then the pro...

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
Greg, Rolling Estonian and cactushead, I reinstalled the Korg software driver. There was nothing in the instructions about this, but after installing the Software Driver, I looked in the Start Menu, and there were additional programs in the folder. (I swear they weren't there before). There was one ...

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
I just lost a more detailed note I wrote you, but the short form is: The only Korg entry is in Sound Video and Game Controllers. That goes away when disconnected and comes back when re-connected. That has Korg specific drivers. I uninstalled the Korg USB MIDI driver tools and reconnected the Korg. A...
