There is no need for low latency when not recording.

Also, if you archived a copy of your previous builds installer, as I have always done since v4.5- you can roll back in minutes.

And fwiw, build 470 caused me zero issues, and fixed several.

I would venture that based on the OP's description, the primary issues experienced are likely caused by one or more specific plug-ins. It can be difficult to pin-point.
