I have used a similar technique with my Digitech Vocalist Live Pro. Do be aware that there is in fact a latency happening. It may not be obvious to you, but it was to me. I solved that problem by simply visually lining up the incoming harmonies with the existing vocal.

Simpler: While the song is playing, the play button becomes a "Pause" button. If pressed, the transport stops right where it is and stays there. If you instead press the stop button, the transport goes back to whatever point you had started it from previously.

Or, better yet, add an option to show ALL the send knobs on every track . . or let us choose which ones are displayed . . .

I was having a VST crash during mixdown that I solved by closing the interfaces for all the VST's. I still had the VST's active on the tracks, but I didn't have their interfaces open. Dunno if it will work for you, but it worked for me.
