Re: Guitar Rig 5 Odd behavior in MX8/WIN 10

I've found NI support to be quite good but you have to wait 3 days or so to get an initial response to your query. Most complaints about NI seem related to their automated internet update service center, which I don't use, mainly because my internet isn't very good. I download updates manually from ...

Re: Guitar Rig 5 Odd behavior in MX8/WIN 10

I dont know if this helps but I have used guitar rig pro 5 in Mix 7 and 8. Never had a problem with it. I am using it now exclusively with Mix 8 and Studio One. Again, no problems with this at all. Presets should load in 1-2 seconds. I got it with Komplete 10, have tried all the others but amp sims ...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

Yes I found the same, a little difficult to first get to know proper gain staging with the DSP mixer. Have to keep an eye on the DSPfx meters to set up. I got the same distortion from the clean amp but it's fine now. Don't really need to set a high input gain on the manual control on the box.

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

According to that, you also have to purchase more licences, can only use on one computer at a time. While I love this UR44, I have to say the software side of things is a bit of a let down for me. The sounds and the quality are great. The licensing and the user interface on the DSPfx mixer and chann...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

No way to enlarge the dialog boxes, they are small, I suspect Steinberg don't want the DSP software side of things to look too good on other DAW's to try to get you to install Cubase. In Cubase, the DSP mixer integrates directly with it. The effects are provided on the DSP chip but they also provide...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

Geoff, you might want to check the separate USB driver download page for the Steinberg USB driver as it is version 1.10. https://www.steinberg.net/en/support/do ... river.html The one that comes with the general tools download is version 1.9, at least it is with me, I am on the UR44. The difference ...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

Yep, I must say, this thing just blows me away, so easy to get great sounds. I jammed a bit to my songs to put the electric guitar in. Never been happy with the sound, it had an ugly distorted squelch sound and I couldn't get it to sit with the other instruments. Tried literally for months with the ...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

So if anyone is following this diatribe, I just wanted to end by saying that I tried out the UR44 for vocals, monitoring through Mixcraft in my projects was still slightly delayed, very subtle but there. This is of no consequence though because monitoring with the DSP chip is great, no latency and e...

Re: New monitors or treatment

I'm with you on mixing at low volume. I am also looking at the rokit 5's right now as there is a secondhand pair I can grab for cheap, pretty close. I have long suspected and recently had it confirmed that the audio interface you use may be more important at generating a flat and neutral sound than ...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

Yep, the main outs of most audio interfaces are going to be +4db (to match studio monitors). The line outs of the UR44 should be -10db. Have fun! Yes, my 192 and m-audio ultra had +4db out but they both had a software switch to change it to -10db, whereas this unit does not have that switch, the li...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

So if you are using any plug-ins on your master bus while you are tracking, try turning them off and see what happens. For that matter, you can try turning all of your plug-ins off and see if the problem gets better. If it does, turn them back on one by one until you find the culprit. Thanks Eric, ...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

Hi all, decided to go for the Zoom R8, at the price of $248 is a steal. Was $310 from Hong Kong, and got a further 20% off special deal. Just a little more than the cost of a basic interface unit, but with many more functions. I have seen these going for at least $369 and upwards, even hitting the ...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

I'm using Native Instruments' Komplete Audio 6. I've been using this since 2013, never had any Issues with Latency Out of interest, when you say you've never had any problems with latency, what do you use the unit for? If you do vocals and harmonies, do you use the direct monitoring function or som...

Re: Low latency interface advice.

With the steinburg units, there is also the UR242, their newest model. This features a dsp chip which allows you to put a channel strip on the vocals, eq, compression and reverb etc, with no latency as these effects are built into the chip. Means you can process vocals before they even hit the DAW. ...
