Just an idea, have you tried swapping out your theme just to rule that out as the cause of the problem?

May already be on this list but:

When editing midi notes can we have a quicker way to go from pen (add notes) to selector please? Something like when you have the pen, pressing CTRL will temporally change the pen to selector until CTRL is un-pressed.
