Re: That gritty sound of strings.
Hi! I know what you mean in describing that "grit" at the start of a bow stroke. For violin parts, I've had some success trying to recreate it in Mixcraft by using cello or viola, and playing an octave or even 2 octaves higher than it would normally be played. Possibly even double bass way...

Many thanks! All Mixcraft 6 instruments-- Deena was very pleased. Highly recommended should you find yourself in the doghouse with a significant other! I didn't this time, just bankin' up the brownie points for when needed in the future... Rick.

Re: New tune...
Thanks to you both for the kind comebacks. I've been doing a lot of studying up on mixing, mostly through these amazing forums and the links provided by users. Not to mention the always good Mixcraft tutorial videos. Always learning, and having fun-- not like high school at all! Computer-dummy quest...

New tune...
Hello friends- A tune I wrote this winter for my wife. She's tolerated my eccentric soul for 35 years. It has a few timing issues, but it's one of the more "serious" pieces I've tried, with a modest attempt at mixing. Note that my "oboe player" managed the whole 3 minutes without...

Re: New song...
INCREDIBLE! Really enjoying this one. Beautiful mix, vocals, and instrumentals all around. I hear the influences you mentioned-- in my opinion, great bands to be influenced by. 3 WEEKS? I could hope to accomplish something half this sophisticated in, oh, maybe 3 YEARS? I admire your skill and musica...

moving tracks from one project to another...
Hey there, Tom and AJ--- Thanks for the advice, I managed to save all four tracks and got them separated.. Had to do a little futzing, but it all worked out. By the way, Tom-- beautiful work on "It Don't Mean a Thing"! Unbelievably nice job on the horns, (I should say really believable), a...

move 2 tracks to a new project?
Well, I'm sure this can be done, but what's the simplest way to move 2 tracks to another project? I've got four tracks in one project that need to be separated without losing any of them. One is a song in progress,(2 tracks), and the other 2 tracks came about kinda spontaneously. This is hopefully s...

Wow, Tom! Killer cover-- I always liked Manhattan Transfer's take on this tune, and you did it proud. The horns sound great. Love the way you "layered" those up, gives it an authentic feel. Not to mention the bass--always good. I've been out of the loop for a while, but check in on this si...

Re: Can't "monitor" one track...
Many thanks, Tom and Greg.... I'm working with a Mixcraft virtual cello, (no messy rosin), and I can't tell you exactly what I did, but the problem is solved! I did have a synth selected, (acoustica instruments), but somewhere in my effects screen, I changed something to do with MIDI tracks....? Jee...

Can't "monitor" one track...
Hello! Working on a piece with several tracks, but when I select my cello track, I can't play. All other tracks, when selected, allow me to play (without recording). I simply want to play along to get some idea of the part before recording. Where'd I goof? Many thanks, Rick.

Aha! Many thanks, Greg-- that solved the problem. I'm still new enough at this that I learn something new every time I boot up Mixcraft. Thanks for the great software and support. Rick.

One track doesn't accept tempo change....?
I'm working on a song with 5 tracks, and adjusted the tempo from 120bpm up to 130bpm. Everything adjusts fine except an MC6 oboe vsti, which remains at 120bpm. I've done this with a number of tunes, and never had a problem. Any suggestions? Many thanks, Rick.

Re: George Harrison - Words of Wisdom
Hi Dave, I really enjoyed this! Harrison's wisdom still holds true, and your music, (impeccable as usual), made a beautiful backdrop for it. Also noticed that you joined Mixcraft exactly a year ago-- Happy 1st anniversary. Keep it coming...Many thanks, Rick.
