The Glow - instrumental track

Friends, your constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated! My daughter came home from her dance & singing lesson last week a little upset because the song which she had been rehearsing for her upcoming recital was not available as a backing track, and her teacher was struggling to find a copy without vocals. I had a listen and I thought, "That sounds like a fairly basic song, I'm sure I could do this". I don't think that I really realised at the time how complex the song actually is, at least in terms of the orchestration. I wasn't happy with the packaged sounds within Mixcraft - I think they're good, but not great, so I invested in Garritan Personal Orchestra 5, which was then a whole load of additional learning - or which I am sure I am really just skimming the surface.

The Glow

I would really appreciate your feedback. Some parts sound good - to me - but in others the strings sound quite artificial, particularly from 1m 42 s onwards.

Thanks, Iain

I've been there. It makes one jealous of Disney's deep pockets don't it?

You have nothing to worry about. The sound systems in those places are very forgiving. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get that file to the sound guy in plenty of time (a day or two isn't out of the question) because he might be able to optimize that track for the audio system.

There's nothing more tedious than Prima Donnas parents schlepping in with a CD, 5 minutes before show time.

If you do a video I'd love to see it. -Harry

I think it sounds great... and should be perfect for the recital.

Your daughter is a very lucky person!

Really well sequenced and interesting melody. My only constructive feedback, is that the strings have a little too much attack but that might be an artistic effect. :D
