Butterflies (look out)

I've been hiding away writing and recording lots of songs with MC8 PS, but ultimately struggling with a good acoustic guitar recorded sound. Don't we all? Well, I'm in a tiny corner of a tiny bedroom...
So, for this one I setup my Rode NT1A and Shure Beta 57A in a kinda A-B config, and, quite liked it.
This song was the result. Some simple guitar overdubs, some "leg slaps" (yes, really) I created, and simple harmonies.
Most of my things have about a 1000 overdubs and VSTs. This one? Guitar recorded with a tiny bit of compression at source, minor EQ on tracks, some effects on the overdub guitar & harmonies, Reverb send track.
No bus compression, other than Limiter6 acting *only* as a digital clipper.

If you make it to the end I'll love you forever :-) x

Here's the song & video on YouTube:
Like A Butterfly

The video is a nice addition Nicky. It's mood matches the song very well.
Love the whole.thing!

Thanks Mark :D
This was a quick song for me, as you know! No labouring over it for months lol
I guess I wanted it to be very non-electronic (even though I love synths!) right down to the leg-slaps I made, using an echoey guitar and BV's where previously I'd have thrown a synth in there.
And the video....well, most of my cheesy videos are taken in my local park, but it's been raining these last few days ha ha!

That's beautiful Nicky (including the de-emphasis points of your voice as the lines end, very natural, not over-worked & the guitars & the rest of it sounds great too). Less of the self-doubting please. Trust your own creative judgement. The world needs more of this :)

I've addressed some of the comments I've had, and cleaned up the vocals on this track a tiny bit, and just done some real subtle tweaks (full details in the notes field alongside the YouTube video)
Like A Butterfly v2

Thanks!

Impeccable timing and singing. Well recorded song. Proof that you don't need an elaborate setup and tons of sounds, only the talent which you have.

Like A Butterfly v2 (SoundCloud)

Thanks!

Beautiful song and nice mix :) The acoustic guitar sounds amazing and your beautiful voice compliments the guitar quite nicely.. I love the simplicity of just a guitar and vocal. A great song shouldn't need any extra instrumentation to stand on its own - and you have a great song ! :D
