No tracks to share just a question. Quite a few covers get posted here, do folks upload covers to Soundcloud with permision? I know there's a way to pay before uploading to streaming services like Spotify, but was not sure if Soundcloud licensing was different as there is no monetization.

That's a good question. My next project was actually going to be a cover and I'd not given it much thought so thanks for the heads up. Hopefully, this should clear things up.

Have not had any issues with Soundcloud. As long as your not selling the song or getting any "revenue" from it, most artists don't have an issue. There are tons of cover tunes on YouTube and Soundcloud.

I just received this reply from Sony Music:

Hello,

Unless the cover will include any part of the original recording, you do not need Sony Music’s permission. You will only need to seek approval with the publishers (Warner Chappell).
