Not bad for beginning, but as your expertise and capabilities expand you might want to move up to something with more than two inputs and one output. Just a thought, you'll find down the road you wished you had something with more features. One aspect I like in audio interfaces is more than one output capability. This way I can have different sets of monitors hooked up an switch between different setups to see how my mix sounds through different components (studio monitors, bookshelf speakers, home stereo, etc.).

I actually have this. I have had it for a few years now and I love it. I play guitar, bass, keys and drums through it (and just about any instrument I can beg borrow or steal). If you are a single track at a time guy this is perfect AND CHEAP for you. I will post a few links to some stuff I did with it here.

I would definitely consider one of the Focusrite Scarlett interfaces. Big bang for the bux, mic pres are stellar and stability is rock solid. Depending on your computer you can get as low as 2ms latency with these units.
