How do they plan on us backing up 12Tb? Already just backing up 2Tb is a PITA...

You'd just have to partition it and back up the active area. It wouldn't be unusual to have 15-20 partitions on a drive like that. -h

FWIW.
I think you would find those drives are intended for server and backup use, not a primary drive, as they are not overly fast.
