MIXER QUESTION...HELP!!!

Post by BERZERKER »

I have a realtek ac97...basic soundcard...how do I hook a mixer up to it?
I just want to record one track at a time with a mic, mixer and pc.
Any advise on how to connect it correctly?...or is it just the same for me to just plug the mic directly in the soundcard without the mixer? Thats what Ive been doing, but, if it makes the sound quality better, I wanna hook the mixer up.

Your mixer most likely has 1/4 inch L/R outputs, where the left is the mono. Connect a cable from that jack into the mic jack on the pc. Turn off mic boost within windows mixer.
Your sound will not be any better, but you'll have more control over the levels and also have whatever parametric eq your board has intergrated on it.
