Evening,

Any thoughts on the offer in the latest Acoustica newsletter for the PSP MixPack2 for $19.99? I assume since it comes in 64 bit it has been updated since 2008? What if we buy it and it winds up being included with MC9? :P

So what do you two think about the package so far, or have you had enough time to really use it yet? Also was it a easy install?

Haven't got round to it yet. The install is easy enough, though that depends what you're used to.

Morning,

Just started playing around with it today, the plugins have a nice clean, transparent sound to them. Definitely subtle enough to do fine tuning with, but capable of heavy effects as well. They're keepers!

As for the install, it was a little convoluted (no pun intended) but doable. The download site is a little bit long in the tooth.

Morning,

Last night I had a chance to really put the PSP plugins to use and they work great. Very transparent sound yet effective at the same time. I especially like the Treble and Saturator, haven’t found a use for the Bass yet. The compressor is good too, although I couldn’t find the ratio setting on it, maybe because I was cross eyed by the time I got to it last night. :|

I have barely touched them, but when I have they do sound good. The disappointing thing about them is that they seem to be old style PSP plugins, with no manual and the demonstration videos seem to not cover the mysterious controls that they contain, to explain what they do, whilst they cover the more usual controls. I like things with manuals, or at least some way to properly understand what they are doing. Their plugins are great, top quality stuff, but what do those controls do ? I use their Xenon limiter plugin a lot, it works as a signal booster due to it transparent dual level approach. I know this because it's got a manual. Also PSP Stomp Delay is excellent, though also very difficult to grasp, even with it's manual (There is a simpler free with Computer Music magazine version called PSP cmDelay, it's worth getting the magazine to get the cover disc, it's on every copy).

Yeah I bought it Nathan. Thanks for the thought. It's pretty good. I like it as an alternative to the Abstract Chamber I usually use. It's gone on everything over the last couple of days :D
