Audio not coming from laptop speakers

Post by kimberlymeg »

Keyboard: RadioShack LK-1161
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1525 w/ Windows 8

Hello, I listed the details above to possibly help find an answer to my problem. I have used the correct size audio jack for my keyboard with a USB connected to my laptop. My laptop has found the USB device and installed it. When I press a key on my keyboard piano no sound comes out of it's speakers (which I expect) but there is no sound coming out of my laptop's speakers. The keys on Pianissimo's piano do not move either. I have used the right jack port on my keyboard piano.
I followed directions in the troubleshooting section of Pianissimo right on the program but it has not fixed my problem. I'm not sure if it maybe just doesn't work well with Windows 8 or if my keyboard is too outdated. I actually bought the program and would hate to not be able to use it now.

Hi,

For Pianissimo, you need to make a MIDI connection, not an audio connection. Looking at the manual for the LK-1161, it appears that it only has an audio output. You could record the audio from that keyboard in our Mixcraft software or some other program, but you can't use it to control Pianissimo or any other virtual instrument.
