Ha Ha Ha, That's a good one! I'm a direct descendant of the lawyer Robert Aske 1500 to 1537 (look it up) and I don't know what his views would be today of this, the EU, or the British Monarchy in general gaining more power after Henry the eighth cheated and murdered him for standing up to this particular subject. (too much power)
However, I've been using metric measurement for years and so have to agree on that one. Ever tried adding up 1-3/8 + 3-11/16 + 4-7/8 + 2-3/4?
No more 2x4 its called 50x100 and astonishingly, most Brits still use feet/inches 40 years after metrication. Hear the one about the fishmonger that was fined by EU law for selling cod by the pound instead of kilo? And all because he made it easier for little old ladies that didn't understand gramme's and kilo's. The mind boggles.
I think I'm getting started - where's me soap box.

Hey Trevor! In light of our current situation, in my opinion, if you want us we're yours! PLEASE, take us back. I certainly agree about the beer part-- "millerweiser" is simply not beer. I long ago gave up quantity for quality. Hilarious piece--Thanks, Rick.

Could you help me (and my (English) English counterparts) pronounce it correctly?
If Arkansas is pronounced 'Awkensaw', then shouldn't Kansas be pronounced 'Kensaw' ??

Lol :D

Arkansas is not pronounced 'Awkensaw' (unless your from below the Mason-Dixon line) it's pronounced "Ar-kan-saw)

"Arkansas" is from an Algonquin word "Akansa." It's the name that the Illinois tribes called the Quapaw. One early spelling was "Arkansea." The spelling with the final "s" IS French. The "r" in Arkansas is intrusive, like the "r's" that British speakers and Bostonians stick into their speech. An early Arkansas governor wanted to pass legislation to fix the pronunciation as "Ah-kan-sah." The word "Kansas" comes from a different tribe of Indians, the Kansa, and filtered into English by way of English speaking explorers and not French.

So you see the damn French and British really screwed us up a long time ago!
