Vhs to Dvd covers

Post by joeretired »

I have some VHS tapes that I'm converting to DVD. The VHS boxes that hold the VHS tapes have images on the front and back that I'd like to use as the covers for the dvd cases. Once I scan the front and back of the boxes how do I combine both images into one so I can print it as a DVD case image.

Is there even a way to do this?

Thanks

Hi,

You could do that in a paint program and then load the image into the label maker. You could use Microsoft Paint, or there's a good free one called Paint.net.

Hi Joe
I do exactly this... I scan the cover as a picture.. then cut the scanned cover up into 3 sections... The Back, the front and the spine.
THEN... I simply just paste them (as 3 pictures... the spine, the back and the front) into the Label Maker DVD cover template... EASY.
I normally edit the scanned cover with a photo editing programme and clean the picture up before pasting them into the DVD cover template.
I use "Serif Photo Plus X6".. it's awesome... I cover up the VHS title and replace it with a DVDVideo icon picture...
I am quite the pro at doing this...

Thanks for the info. Here's what I did, it's similar to what you do.

1) Scanned the front with the spine as one image
2) scanned the back as one image
3) brought up Acoustica and added the images as CDs front and inside covers
4) printed them out and cut them to size
5) Rescanned as one image and used it as the DVD cover.

I do like your method. Where do you get the DVDvideo Icon pictures from
