Latency Issues and Exclusive Mode
Hey all, I'm using Mixcraft 9 on a Windows 10 computer with plenty of power (i7 processor and 16 GB ram). I'm having a bit of trouble with latency, and it seems my computer is unable to run Exclusive Mode (i get a dialogue box popup). 20ms of latency is an absolute killer for me when tracking vocals and instruments. I have a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 interface FYI, and I just tried using Exclusive Mode without the interface plugged in and it worked! Any advice is appreciated!
Re: Latency Issues and Exclusive Mode
Are you using the focusrite scarlett's asio driver? I would expect that might enable lower latency.

Re: Latency Issues and Exclusive Mode
i'm using Scarlett 2i2 also 9 pro studio and my latency at 44100Hz 32bits stereo 6.5ms......
no issues.
On your ASIO options in mixcraft do not check "use Device's preferred settings" box.

This worked great! I have the latency down to 5.6ms.hpharley90 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 1:46 pm i'm using Scarlett 2i2 also 9 pro studio and my latency at 44100Hz 32bits stereo 6.5ms......

However, I am having another issue, and it's kind of difficult to explain.
When I record guitar parts, it actually seems like they are recording slightly EARLY, even when playing to a click or with a MIDI drum track. When I play them back everything seems to be like 1/32 early. Also, when hit the record button, it doesn't start 100% in time, there's a bit of a crackle, and then after about a half measure or so it seems to sort itself out. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on here? I'm not the world's best guitar player but I've checked time and time again and things are definitely arriving early and it's not to do with my crappy playing.
Here's my hardware setup:
2020 HP Laptop 15
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
Windows 10 Home 64 Plus
Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7
1st Gen Scarlett 2i2 Interface (Using it as audio driver in the ASIO option)
Saving/writing projects to external HDD (not sure of the specs)
Thanks in advance!

Make sure that the Scarlett is selected default in Windows sound settings (sound control panel) properties, advanced and you have the same settings there, mine is 24 bit 48000.

Crackle could be scarlett. it's first gen says you. I had first gen and it developed issues. Had to throw away and purchased 3rd gen Jan. 2020. No issues. But I had no delay's. It was just noise.drews0322 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 1:01 pmThis worked great! Re: Latency Issues and Exclusive Mode
This actually seems to have done the trick! Although, when ASIO mode is enabled, I can't select the bit depth (and there's no way to select it in the focusrite driver application), so in Mixcraft it defaults to 32 bit. In the Sound Control panel, the only options are for 16 and 24. However, I haven't noticed any weirdness with the crackling anymore and everything seems to be recording alright.Rolling Estonian wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 2:32 pm Make sure that the Scarlett is selected default in Windows sound settings (sound control panel) properties, advanced and you have the same settings there, mine is 24 bit 48000.

That 32 bit figure on the bottom of the screen doesn't have to do with your settings, don't know why it's there, it's more trouble than it's worth. Just make sure Windows and Scarlett match.
