Transfering Custom Amp Settings
How do I go about transferring the custom amp settings I have in MC5 to MC6?

Hi,
Can you please give us more details? Which custom amp settings do you want to transfer?

Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
Using the Shred Amp Simulator I created some custom presets. How do I transfer those custom presets to MC6?
Does that help explain?

The presets you created in shred should transfer ok. Have you installed the latest build of Mixcraft 6?

Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
Yes I have the latest MC6 but the Shred Amp presets did not transfer. I even looked at an older version "MC4" and the presets show up there, but not in MC6. Is there a file that MC6 needs to be linked to in order to see my custom presets?
Also is there a way to edit the preset list?

Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
This should be the fix you are looking for
-
Effects Presets:
Effects presets saved in Mixcraft used to be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\Acoustica Shared Effects in *.preset files. These *.preset files are now stored in %AppData%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\FX. If you move your *.preset files from this old location to the new location, then all your presets will be back.
Instrument Presets:
Instrument presets were previously stored in %ProgramData%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets. They are stored in *.instrument files. User presets are now stored in %AppData%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets.
What you need to do is move your own presets (but not all the presets) into this new location, into a folder that matches the name of the category you would like the sounds to be in. So, if you want your MyPreset.instrument file to be in the Acoustic Guitar category, you'd need to place it in:
%AppData%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets\Acoustic Guitar\MyPreset.instrument
Hope this helps

No that's not it. What I'm looking for is specifically for the Shred Amp settings.

Hi,
Did you try Eric's suggestion to copy the preset files over? I just tried it and it worked for me with my Shred presets.

Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
I did look in the directory Eric suggested but I didn't recognize any of the preset names I created.

Hi,
Mine had a crazy name like this: "114084834A2D4A7FA2DD922A989DCE68.preset"
There were two of them.

OK that's what saw too. I was hoping there was a better way to find out which one was which. I was also hoping to better organize them in my pull down list and even edit the names. But it doesn't appear that this can be done unless you have a way of doing this.

Hi,
No, just copy those over and they'll show up in Mixcraft 6, and then you can delete some of them or whatever in Mixcraft 6.

Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
You can open the presets in Notepad and often see the names there. However, DO NOT EDIT THE PRESET FILE IN NOTEPAD! You'll wreck it that way.
Regardless, once you have a preset open in Shred you can simply save it under a new name and delete the old one - all from within Shred.

Thanks for the tip
Re: Transfering Custom Amp Settings
OK I copied them over to the %AppData%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\FX as was mentioned. I now see them in the Shred FX. However they do not have the same sound as they do in MC5. So I must be missing something yet.
