Copyrighting

Post by Arpeggio »

Hi,
I'm wondering what do I have to do to copyright my songs? I have no clue on how to do this.

Have a look around here:
http://creativecommons.org

Basically, everything you create is yours and no one can use that unless you tell it's okey.

The usual easy and cheap method is to send it to yourself by recorded delivery, to never open the envelope, and to keep the receipt. I assume there to be a different version of recorded delivery in almost all countries.

I know some people who do what Ian said. Mail themselves whatever they feel is needed (lyrics, music etc) with registered mail. You only open the envelope in case of litigation

Or, you might want to checkout www.copyright.gov

Under "Publications" click on "circulars and brochures".

I think circular 56 is the one that applies to recorded songs.
No matter where you go, there you are.
