MIDI line erasure?

Post by kr236rk »

Hi,

Can you erase (or shape?) MIDI notes, like with a pencil eraser: I saw that demonstarted somewhere once but I wasn't sure if it was MixCraft or not?

Many thanks,

Ric

Absolutely! Search for "Piano Roll Editor" in the Mixcraft 6 help file.

Wow! Knew I'd seen that somewhere! :D

Hope to upgrade to 6 in the not too distant future.

Many thanks!

You can do the same thing in Mixcraft 5. It's just not quite as advanced or user-friendly. Mixcraft 6 has some big improvements in midi editing over Mixcraft 5.

Search for "Piano Roll Editor" in the Mixcraft 5 help file. Also check out "Piano Roll Buttons And Controls".

My 2-cents,

I am not skilled in the midi area and I wasn't able to make use of the piano-roll in MC5, I've upgraded to MC6 and find the improvements great. With minimal effort, I made a drum backing tracking that was "useable" very quickly.

MC5 is/was great, MC6 is well worth the small upgrade fee.

Many thanks, I only just got into MIDI in a way that I can use it just like any other program to improve projects, a fantastic addition for anyone into music-making! Thanks to MixCraft for making this all possible :)

I was slightly disappointed when I plugged my drum pads into the MIDI console though, gosh that sure is limited in MC5 for drum kits, the analogue drum kit I use on my Yamaha DD-65 is way superior, folks actually think it's a real kit being thrashed by a lousy drummer (me) !

The strings in MC5 and pretty darn nifty, if you are into strings at all. A double bass would be a welcome addition as well. I use a Yamaha A303 keyboard which has MIDI in/out. The piano sounds are great of course both on the Yam and in MC5 MIDI.

Yes please give us a whole range of different drum kits!

Bests,

Ric

H,

Mixcraft 6's Acoustica Studio Drums has a variety of drum kits.

Thanks Greg,

I don't use drum machines just flounder around on pads, so I need rock kits (lol/rockets?), jazz kits and someway inbetween for folk / folk-rock, so a broad palette of effects for pads. The big issue for virtual drums is 'brush drums' of course and I have considered buying a real snare drum with brushes just for that effect.

Also the hi-hat on my pads (foot pad) is super rubbish and sounds like a pin dropping onto carpet, can find no way to boost it - that's a real loss at times; but the parallel effects in MC5 were just as slight. Think there's way to go for MIDI tech in improving the versatility of drum pads, you ought to be given separate controls for each drum effect?

Looking forwards to MC6 ;)

That's quite amazing Greg, thanks. I have a lot of trouble getting a decent hi-hat effect and what I heard on that demo sounded promising.

Are there brush drums?

Thanks again,

You can get a great hi-hat sound out of the Studio Drums. It's one of my favorite parts. Put the open hi-hat sound in and let it ring and then put the closed hi-hat sound, with a slight overlap I think?

It sounds great, I use it...probably too much. :)

Hi,

The "Acoustica Studio Drums" virtual instrument doesn't have brushes, but "Acoustica Instruments" does. Just choose the "Percussion - Drum Kits" category and look for the Brush kit. There's a drum map for it.
