The Kitchen Spammers

Just had a thought why those idiots are so persistent on our forum.

It's all in the name - MIXCRAFT - They probably figure it's a forum for kitchen appliances.

Moderators, maybe a recording related qualifying question for new "members"?

I doubt there are real persons behind this. Just some ordinary bots, who spawn and spam.

If you are right (and I suspect that you are) then trevlyns suggestion would help to minimise the spam posts.

Another board that I use also had some problems with spammers. They implemented a further level of logging in that requires a forum name (which is different from the log in name) and a forum password (again different from the log in password). Although it sounds a hassle, once I told my browser to remember both it is literally a single click each time I visit the board to continue past it. In the 8 - 9 months since it was implemented I haven't seen any spam. That board uses different board software (yabb) but perhaps something similar can be considered for this board.
