Something wrong when comping

Hi,

I'm not seeing it with build 207 either. I'm splitting a 44100 Hz 32-bit wav file, then selecting the two sections and pressing Ctrl+W to merge them on a standard audio track. Is there some other factor involved? Are you just splitting and merging? Do you reposition the pieces before you merge?

On the experiment that I outlined I did not move the two halves. I just split, select, right-clicked and selected 'Merge'. However, the same thing happens when I use Ctrl+T and Ctrl+W. I noticed too that the increase in wave size occurs at the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth, and eleventh time the merge is carried out. At the ninth instant onwards the increase occurs every time, and the increase seems greater than before.

I suspect that no increase is perceived in the first and second instant because the rate of increase is so small, and only appears every second instant because the rate of increase is becoming more perceptible, and every time from the ninth instant onwards because the increase is becoming much larger. Therefore, the increase in wave size (and volume) is a fixed percentage of the wave at the time of merge.

Following your question, I just tried it in a new, fresh project and it didn't happen. So how do I make my project free of this aberration? Is there any means of locating the cause?

There was a bug in a previous build that had a volume-changing-on-merge bug when the project was at a specific tempo.

Hi,

That doesn't seem to be it, either. Maybe you should just send us your project file. If you select "Copy Project Files" from Mixcraft's file menu and put your project in a zip file, is it smaller than 8 MB? If so, you could submit an Acoustica Support Request and send us the zipped project. You could delete all the other tracks to make the project smaller (assuming the problem still happens when you delete all the other tracks).

For the benefit of anyone wishing to know the conclusion to this little saga, this is what has been found:

Dan figured out what's going on. Looking at the mixer in your project, the mid EQ is turned up a bit. You discovered a bug in which the EQ is not being reset when you merge, so that the midrange boost gets added each time. We'll have this fixed in the next update. In the meantime, reset that EQ setting until you're done with all the cutting and merging.
