Anybody using Jamstix 3 with Mixcraft?

Post by fredfish »

Hi all

I was looking at the demo of Jamstix 3 and wondered if anybody has any experiences to share about Jamstix 3 (it looks quite good - but the limitations in the demo version make it a bit uncomfortable to demo properly, which kinda defeats the object of a demo!)

Appreciate any feedback

Cheers

Hi,

We haven't tested Jamstix 3, but people have used Jamstix with Mixcraft in the past.

I'm testing it now in 7. Can't get the drums to play from off audio track 1. Can hear the drums manually and the timing moves but. The timing segments move with the audo but no kit movement or sound???

I tried using it years ago. With N-Track. An N-Track user touted it in a post on the N-Track forum. I could never get it to work.
I recall some verbiage in the setup instructions that made it seem that no matter how you tried, on some systems it was not going to work. But that was over 15 years ago...I would imagine by now they would have fixed this anomaly.

It sure sounded like fun product. I had forgotten all about it til now.

Never used, but I think it is worth mentioning that Jamstix 4 is on the way.

Jamstix in mixcraft 7 seems to follow the audio track but no drum output??? It says it's monitoring midi in on the VI track. Could that be the problem? The audio is just not connecting with the drum kit? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could you please advise of how you set yours up. I just want to jam with audio input. I've read everything even talked to the guy that built it. Many hours, very frustrating. Thanks in advance. Reboot.

HI,

Mixcraft 7 doesn't have an option to route an audio track to a virtual instrument. Is that what you're trying to do?

Yea exactly. I have audio out and midi working fine. That sounds like the problem. I selected monitor on the input track. That doesn't work. Some people say they are doing it but have not responded. I'm really hoping there is a way. I love mixcraft and don't want to switch to another program. Is there a simple update or a work around? Super frustrating. Reboot.

Following.

Was considering purchasing Mixcraft, but seamless use of Jamstix is an absolute requirement for me in a DAW and it appears Mixcraft is not there yet?

Hi,

You could always download Mixcraft and give it a try with Jamstix 3 to see if it does what you want.

If it is already clear that it doesn't (per above) not sure what the point would be.

Would definitely want it to auto-compose to music coming in through the audio input of the DAW -one of Jamstix's "main attractions" (but which per discussion above is not happening in Mixcraft -unless I am misunderstanding something).

Perhaps one of the devs could test a free trial of Jamstix as to whether there is a workaround? (current version is 4).

Hi,

Mixcraft 8 has an audio control feature:

Here's a tutorial video: Using Audio Control in Mixcraft 8.
