I play in a lot of mixed meters when I compose, and change between them frequently.
Having a downbeat is a terrible distraction...
Does anyone have any tips or tricks as to how to stop the downbeat from sounding, or how to set the beats per measure to "1"?
Thanks, everyone!
Set metronome to 1 beat per measure, or turn off downbeat?

Go to File>Preferences>Metronome
You can change the file that plays for 'Measure' - which is beat 1, and 'Beat' - which are the other beats. Use the same sound for both and you will have no "downbeat". All the ticks will sound the same.
Also, you can use a blank file to eliminate the 'Beats' if you want.
What many do is make a midi click track on an instrument track with the built-in Acoustica Studio drums, or any drum vsti. That way, you can make a kind of "custom" metronome track.

Excellent! Thanks so much for your help. Works perfectly, and I've saved it as a template.
