MIDI hi-hat?

Re: MIDI hi-hat?
you mean a "pedal" hi-hat sound like psss-T? yes. Mixcraft does 3 actual sounds-open,pedal,& closed but it depends on your actual hi-hat pedal & sensetivity settings w/in the controller as to how close you can get.
mine is pretty dang realistic if you listen to a couple of my latest uploads. of course,I ain't no drummer.

Yes, that's the sound. I have no midi equipment, I usually prefer using the notation feature. Surely there must be a way of entering pedal information manually?gypsy101 wrote:you mean a "pedal" hi-hat sound like psss-T? yes. Re: MIDI hi-hat?
This depends on the samples you have available. I don't use beat craft or Mixcraft drum kits so I'm not sure what they have.Ianpb wrote:This leads me onto my own hi-hat question. Is there a means of achieving that slow attack before closing it effect? Unfortunately, not being a drummer, I don't know what it's called. It seems that only the tap-tap is available with the standard Mixcraft instrument effects. I did try bouncing the hi-hat sound from virtual instrument to audio track and then reversing it, but it just ended up sounding like a pretentiously lame attempt at reverse-track psychedelia.

Re: MIDI hi-hat?
yeah, there is. I'll put it the simplest way I can.using a keyboard controller or any other hit the open hi-hat key & then the pedal key or closed key when you want the note to end. you can make it as long or short as you want.Ianpb wrote:Yes, that's the sound. I think you all are going about this all wrong. Seriously. All this MIDI trigger to capture the Hi-Hat, drums, whatever..... and convert it into digital signals for inputting into your computer? Just rubbish.
Here's what you should really consider doing. Get a real friggin Hi-Hat. And real drums. That's right, quit fooling around with this hogwash and get serious!
What you really want to accomplish is right here. Its so obvious!
Use MIDI to trigger real drums! Duh! Your doing it all caddywampass and backasswards!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... qE9zIp0Muk
P.S. you gotta look real close to see the Hi-Hat trigger. He's a hard workin' little buggar eh? Program that bbdrmz!
And yes, that's Trevors clone on bass. Cloned Gypsy on Guitar. Real instruments, MIDI programming.
Why have I been wasting my time doing it the other way? Genius.
Banjo! yep, gotta get to work now.......

I don't know. I think the group has potential but they sound a bit mechanical to me. Maybe if they got into a little smoky bar, after hours jam session they might loosen up a bit.
Re: MIDI hi-hat?
Just for the record...I usually play an actual instrument. I play about any guitar you put in front of me (no proficiently to most, but not as bad as some). I have a lifelong love for live drum's! They have always been where I gravitate to most. I have messed with actual programming and don't find much fun in it. Although, I do use a lot of different midi at the home studio. It's more efficient for the space I have. Not that I have to defend, or authenticate my self to anyone... I simply do what I do... But, I actually learnt..and continue to... any instrument available. No programmer here... that's for real nerds:mrgreen::geek:

Sorry.. should've quoted this right to begin with. Anyway, my reply to thus quote is above.
But, the robot video is pretty comical. That's serious programming!

Re: MIDI hi-hat?
Gotta love a four armed drummer!
I am thinking of setting up a similar band, light metal, calling them Titanica. Or maybe Titania?
Maybe a Brit rock version. Aluminia?
Wait, hey! Aluminati! We'll do Electric Light Orchestra covers! (Yeah, that's the ticket!)
Maybe a Bluegrass band, called the Lawnmowers? (Somebody stop me.....)

Hey, I'm having a similar problem. I want the sound of when you release the pedal. Like a "ts-ah".

Did you know you can do this?ThreeProphets wrote:Hey, I'm having a similar problem. I want the sound of when you release the pedal. Like a "ts-ah".
Re: MIDI hi-hat?
I think he wants the opposite, as when you strike a closed or half-closed hi-hat then open it. Try doing the above tip, but going from closed hi-hat to open high hat. I don't know if the Mixcraft drums have a velocity setting where you get the "sizzle" sound (from hitting a half-closed/loosely-closed hat rather hard) or not, but it's worth a try!Acoustica Greg wrote:Did you know you can do this?ThreeProphets wrote:Hey, I'm having a similar problem.
