Sound Cracking Up..!
Can anyone help me..!
I've just downloaded Mixcraft 6 to my new computer and the replay is, what I can best describe as "cracking up". The sound stutters and spits, especially when a new track comes in; it's as thought the cpu or memory is overloaded and the program seems to run slow.
I used to get this on my old computer when I had too many tracks running, but I expected that as I only had 1GB memory.
New computer is running Windows 8.1, has 12GB memory with 4th gen i7 and 1TB hard drive; it's pretty good spec and does everything...except run Mixcraft 6..!
Any help or ideas would be appreciated...this was going to be my Music Sunday[/color]
Thanks

I too, as a new user, experience that sometimes. Yesterday I disabled tracks that were "armed for recording" and the distortion disappeared. The veterans here are sure to give the definite answer.

Thanks for getting back, but cutting tracks out can't be the answer, how would you ever do a full mixdown...?
I'm experimenting with latency on playback...seems hopeful...

Re: Sound Cracking Up..!
I did not actually delete or cut tracks out, I just disabled the red "arm for recording" button for the tracks I wasn´t recording on. Somehow I had a few tracks armed for recording I wasn´t using at the moment.

Hi,
If the video doesn't solve it for you, could you share a bit more info:
What are you using as a soundcard (onboard or discrete)?
What are you running in your tracks (audio, VSTi's: if so which ones)?
What effects are you putting on the tracks and in the master bus?
@FoxmailUK and vhild: you can very often eliminate artifacts by either 'freezing' or 'mixing down to a new audio track' any track you are not currently working on.

asio or WAVE RT latency/buffer settings?
"freezing" the non-working tracks works every time.

Re: Sound Cracking Up..!
Your computer should be able to handle a dozen instances of Diva, or dozens of less demanding plugins.
Mixcraft if actually pretty efficient. With Diva though there is often cracking despite the meter showing only about 35%. When switching Diva's own multicore support on, the cracking goes away
Regarding the audio settings mentioned in the video, where in MC can I set the sample rate? If it is fixed, is it 44, 48, 96?
I am asking because I noticed in another DAW that - especially mediocre - plugins sound better at 96, especially on the upper half of the keyboard. Hence I would like to use that rate if available.

Hi,
The next time this happens, quit Mixcraft and send us your mixcraft-log.txt file, which is located in this folder:
%appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft
Another way to find it is to click on the Windows Start Menu, select All Programs, then Acoustica Mixcraft 6 (or 5)
and finally Logs. Submit an Acoustica Support Request and attach the log file along with a brief description of the problem.
