Mbliss,-if you are interested in geist,-you are probably best heading to the fxpansion homepage and checking the tutorials out, they are a bit more lucid and technical than what i am,-the music i make is very percussion/beat driven and i tend to construct patterns, arrange them in song mode and then play it live through the sampler and tweak and record it without normalizing it.....when rendering patterns in the song mode it automatically normalizes them and the results can be a bit too smooth for my liking....i like a bit of fuzz and grittiness.
Another great thing about geist is that you can layer sounds and its brilliant editing functions.....even if you are using a one shot you can tweak it and make it yours, though i often do that in mixcraft too-layering a kick with a bit of a snare and maybe a pitched down closed high hat etc. for a unique sound....i have a massive drum/percussion library though the downside is that with too many choices it is so easy to just zone out and get lost in sound -geist comes with a huge library though there is so much free stuff out there,-goldbaby.co.nz,beatproduction.net and a fave is kb6 drums,-a dude with an empire of vintage drum machines that sells sample packs but also has mountains of freebies.I also use found sounds from around the house-everything from the wooden spoons in the kitchen to a plastic bottle filled with matchsticks. i

Noel how well do you know "ShortCircuit"? I read the reviews & questions on the sidebar of the page you linked. Is there a manual or youtube channel where I could learn more about it, since its a discontinued product?Noel Felix Tamayo wrote:EZdrummer is cool. Theres not a whole lot of drum vst (if any for that matter) that do hip hop/rap drums. Since you want trap drums your best bet would be to get yourself a vst software sampler like, http://www.tx16wx.com/ or http://www.vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php or http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/sa ... l-versions. All of em FREE and all of em able to load wav files Then you can just google FREE TRAP DRUMS, or TRAP DRUM KITS. I make beats and i use the Tx16w. Its awesome. Grab a bunch of wavs, load em up and it'll lay em across your keyboard keys. It also auto chops samples.

Ive only used shortcicuit a few times to load some drum samples. Just messed around with it right now and its real simple to use. Hit load on the top left corner, find your sample, and your set. Do that for as many sample you want. As far as a manual just click help on the GUI and itll give you the basics. Make sure to download version 1.1.2. (version 2 seems to be buggy). Heres a youtube link for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPq4XZhUOio.
