Hey asimmd,

Like clavguy said, extra plug-ins, for example, Isotope Mastering Essentials, and Acoustica 31 band eq. I wanted all the toys and have not been disappointed. Then again, I was starting from scratch - I didn't have a library of existing plug-ins that I had used in other daws.

Also, earlier in this thread, Acoustica Greg posted a link to the comparison chart you might want to look at.

I might also add that this forum is the BEST. The guys at Acoustica, as well as the regulars in here are always ready to answer questions and offer tips and information. :D

Again, welcome aboard.

I think you were automatically inducted when you wrote that sentence Alan. Welcome to the family!

Personally I upgraded to the pro version back when the pro version was first created I think.....
Reasons? Mostly so I had access to all the additional plugs to test them out and see if I needed them. Turns out, mostly not. A few exceptions. For instance, I have gotten a lot of use out of the TB Parametric EQ over time, But recently purchased a third party bundle that includes a potential replacement. Time will tell, preferences develop and change over time don't they?

I have been slowly phasing in some choice Waves selections lately. Which do you have? I crave some UAD stuff and DSP technology, but I cant get too carried away. Yet. 8)

Good signs of a picky mixer who is into the details.

Prime flavors of compressor and EQ emulations, and a high quality reverb.
I'm eager to hear some of your work now Alan!

Fabfilter Pro-Q is on my short list. Tried it out after seeing it used in some tut's. Nice features.

My evolving list includes many impulse buys and some cases of "sales I just couldn't resist" I guess. :D

Waves:
C1
Center
Doubler
Eddie Kramer GT
GTR3
MannyM Reverb
One Knob Louder
Renaissance bass
R. Comp
R. Axx
R. Vox
R. EQ
Super Tap Delay
Vocal Rider

Other assorted including:

TRacks Classic
iZotopes Nectar essentials

And a bunch more odds and ends.

Now if I could just learn to make the most of some of them. 8)

*Note to anyone who reads this, I am not advocating that anyone needs all this particular stuff, or that the stock MC plugs aren't useful. I believe its best to find what sounds good to you and has an interface you can become comfortable using and I believe its best to get to know how to use your choices well.
But options are fun.......

Hi Mark
Thanks you are not that far behind and as you say a few plugins used well is
no match for a ton of plugins used badly.

My music is instrumental a lot of Shadows stuff but I play anything that makes
a good instrumental.

My main guitar is a Fender C/S NOS56 Vox AC15 amp and various echoes.

Perhaps when I have recorded something using Mixcraft I will be allowed to
post something but it would not be fair to do that now.

Since when is 63 considered "old?"

Hey martinweeks,

In the original post, asimmd stated that he is 68 years old. In my reply, I stated that I am 63 attempting to reassure asimmd that he is not the only "mature" individual in here.

You are correct, 63 is not old; neither is 68. The way I see it, I have turned 21 on 3 occasions.
