Precise pitch shifting?

Post by Starship Krupa »

I just did a couple of live recordings of a friend and I playing together, he on guitar, I on drums.

The jam was recorded on my iPod using iTalk, and I have imported the resulting .AIFF files into Mixcraft for editing and sweetening, maybe track some other instruments over it.

The hitch: a week before, I had another friend over who is currently deeply into that A=432Hz tuning that's going around like a virus, and he tuned my guitar down to you-know-what without asking me or telling me.

So I need to take an audio file that's been recorded at A=432 and pitch shift it to A=440.

I know about the transpose control on the Sound Details tab, and I know that I can type in tenths of a semitone, but is there a better way of doing it than manually calculating what percentage of a semitone I need to shift it?

Maybe just use a pitch correction software.

Hi,

The exact semitone change would be +0.318, so bump it up 0.3 semitones in Mixcraft and see how it sounds.

I asked Google.

A few people have asked about going in the opposite direction in the past.
