Audio stuttering/gapping

Post by the pannacotta army »

This seems to happen in the first few minutes of opening Mixcraft having loaded a project.
It appears to happen particularly as the moving line encounters audio clips. After a few minutes, the crackles/stuttering generally don't occur anymore and everything is fine.
I'm showing my age here, but it's like it's "warmed up" rather similar to how old TVs use to.

Any reason why this should be....and are there any steps to cure this?
Anyone else suffering this?
FWIW, I don't get the same behaviour with Sonar or Reaper.

It sometimes happens to me, though once mixcraft has played the whole track then you play it again it's fine.

If you are using Kontakt or Play libraries (and probably many more), they have a 'feature' called background loading which actually means the Mixcraft UI will appear and look ready to go when in fact many of the instruments are only partially loaded. Total loading can take some time......like 5 minutes. What I usually do is open the UI for my last instance of Kontakt, go brew a cup of coffee in the Keurig and then come back and watch the load progress in the Kontakt UI until it's done, then start my session.

You can try LatencyMon. It can help you identify who is causing the bottleneck.
It makes records of which process takes how long.
