Track speed (not latency) issues.

This is my first time trying to do a live recording in a couple of weeks. I took the day off work to do it. I don't THINK this is a latency issue, and I'll do my best to describe the situation clearly. Keep in mind that I am using a new PC (specs listed in my Signature).

When I am playing the guitar, the sound I am hearing is in real time and is in sync with the tracks I am playing to. But the vertical line that runs along where I am playing breaks right there at the top of the track being recorded. The recorded audio on the armed track gets further and further ahead of the other tracks the longer the song plays. It's as if that specific track is playing in a very slightly faster tempo. It starts off in sync with the rest of the tracks.

For the record, I recorded everything in 97.9 bpm and then changed it to 98 bpm to try to match up to EXdrummer2 which never came into play. I have changed the bpm back to the 97.9 that the other tracks were originally recorded at to see if that corrected the matter, but it did not.

Am I EVER going to get to actually record?

Hi,

When you play the audio you recorded, the recorded track gradually starts getting ahead of the other tracks? Is that correct?

That could mean that you've got your latency set too low. Little tiny bits of audio are getting skipped. Your recording through a Xenyx? Are you using ASIO4all?

To your first question; yes, exactly!

I am recording through the UMC202HD. The Xenyx is just to mix all my sources down for monitoring. I do NOT have Asio4all on this machine. I ended up not using it on the old machine, as the Core Audio in Exclusive mode worked very nicely and had less latency than the Asio, and so I haven't installed it here. But, this machine is acting a bit different. I'll install it now and let you know how it works out.

Hi,

I'm not recommending ASIO4All. I recommend that you use the ASIO driver that was made for your interface: U-PHORIA UMC202HD downloads. It's generally always better to use the ASIO driver that was designed for your specific audio interface. The only reason I mentioned ASIO4All, which is just a generic ASIO driver, is that the Xenyx doesn't come with its own.

Try downloading and installing the latest audio drivers for your UMC202HD and then using ASIO mode.

I installed the Interface drivers when I set the machine up. I'll try ASIO mode.

Hi,

Did you install them from a CD? There might be newer ones on the web page.

PERFECT. Thanks! Btw, I got a drum sound like through EXdrummer2.
