Midi Sequencer - Save notes you selected as a preset?
I'm using superior drummer and I'm mostly going to be using the same sounds.
Seems that every time I create a session I have to pick all the notes again.

I am not sure what you mean, but perhaps you could set up a session starting point and save ot as a template?
Use the "save as" function and change the file type to "MX7 Template" and see if that re-opens the way you want to start your session.
I create a template folder for commonly used setups as a starting point and remember to change the name of your new project using "save as" instead of "save" and put it in its own new project location.

Think he's talking about saving a midi sequence like a loop? I believe the answer is -no. You cannot save a midi seq in your loops folder. There are some workarounds. I think you can click and drag a midi file into a track? Wish I was at my DAW to speak more informatively. I'm sure someone else out there can describe.

That was another guess by me, dont know.
tedats, are you wanting to build a library of MIDI drum clips perhaps?
But then on the other hand.... Superior drummer has its own MIDI library...... Lost.

If you are wanting to save the midi sequence as a clip (loop), just select the track and and go the the file menu and select save as a midi file. And then you just have to import it every time instead of picking the notes out on the sequencer.

Hi,
I believe he's talking about the selection of notes you get in the step editor, like if I wanted to make a triangle / cowbell only drum kit.

Re: Midi Sequencer - Save notes you selected as a preset?
Hi again,
Looks like this would be a feature suggestion. You can edit which drum parts are available in a preset (see page 103 of the help file: Creating Custom Drum Maps), but there is no way to save a custom step sequencer set of notes.
Maybe what you could do for now, is make a blank project with the custom drum kit. You need to have a clip in there with some notes on it for this to work.

Ah, that makes sense Greg, your probably right.
With the starter clip as you described, you could save that as a template and recall it though right?

Templates don't save clips, so it would have to be a regular project file.

Re: Midi Sequencer - Save notes you selected as a preset?
But you can save a project (with clips), then change the file extension from mixcraft project to mixcraft template and the project (with notes) becomes a template. Back when we were beta testing 7 I asked a similar question and Acoustic Dan came up with the idea. I use it in my orchestra template (which I rarely use ) to set up the keyswitches in my Kirk Hunter libraries.Acoustica Greg wrote:Templates don't save clips, so it would have to be a regular project file.

Re: Midi Sequencer - Save notes you selected as a preset?
After experimenting a bit, I see the simple workaround might be to simply create a folder of projects as templates, and manage it that way. Similar to Chibears method, but you dont really even have to change the file extension.
But the suggestion to allow saving step sequencer configurations in templates seems like a good idea to me.

Thanks for all the responses!
I completely forgot to check back up on this.
Greg nailed it.
Would it be a massive ask to have this added?
It means I can't really use templates to my advantage. I can use project files as templates however which is fine really to be honest but I hope you can see how this must be affecting pretty much anyone using mixcraft in the same way I am.
