Function for Selecting Events

Post by davefk »

Hello Acoustica

Can you add a function allowing the selection of events in piano or step mode please.

Reading the manual surely would help sometimes....

"Selecting Notes
Click on a note to select it. Alternatively, select the Arrow tool and drag a selection.
All notes that fall within the selection rectangle are selected. Hold down the SHIFT
or CTRL key to select multiple notes. Double-clicking a note on the piano roll
keyboard will select all notes of that value. Click anywhere beside a note (or
pressing the ESC key) will deselect it.
Notes may also be selected by duration and velocity by clicking the MIDI Editing
button on the Piano Roll editor toolbar and choosing Select By Duration... or
Select By Velocity..."

I may be mistaken, but I don't think that has anything to do with what Dave was asking about. :D

Hi,

You're talking about MIDI CC? How would you select the events? What are you trying to do?

I THINK it is a sort of programmable MIDI "batch command" sort of thing. I have seen it described elsewhere. A "MIDI macro" command so to speak. I think I've seen similar things elsewhere.

Dave? We need a little clarification on your request!

I was thinking also, there is another DAW that has a feature called "Event FX" that could be what you are talking about, but I doubt it.

Sorry guys I've been busy. I would like to be able to select sections of CC data, pitch bend or modulation data, and make edits on the selection. I would select the events using the arrows tool if it were possible...

One of my perennial requests has been the ability to edit CC#s in the automation lanes (especially those CC#s that trigger multiple events per note like pitch, mod, 7, 11, etc). Would that fulfill your needs?

Yes, but my main requirement is to be able to edit the data from within the piano roll. Your request above would also be useful.

Does that mean it will be in an update, or part of your software development roadmap for MX8?

That depends on what the designers of the software decide to do. Mixcraft 8 beta is getting closer, so we're not going to be cramming a bunch of brand new feature suggestions into version 8.0 at this late date. A bunch of the suggestions that have been made in the Mixcraft suggestion thread are already in Mixcraft 8, like VST3 support and native sidechaining, for example.

And no, we're not ready to announce all the new features yet.
